For more than 60 years, the Swiss Güdel Group AG has been developing high-precision machine components and intelligent automation solutions for the entire manufacturing process in the automotive, building materials, machine tools, railroad, energy, fiber composites, intralogistics, plastics, food, tires and many other sectors at over 20 locations.
Güdel has been working with elunic for several years to develop and implement a comprehensive digitalization strategy.
The joint project began with the definition of the strategy and the creation of a basic cloud infrastructure in order to quickly create initial added value for the company. This was achieved with the design and implementation of an initial smart products application and its use for the company's own production, which can provide information such as manuals in digital form.
As a further milestone, the Smart Products Dashboard was implemented as an entry point for digital services using the shopfloor.io software component and supplemented with additional functions and applications such as condition monitoring for the Güdel Robotic Modules.
Together with Microsoft and the use of various Azure services (such as App Services, Function Apps, Azure Cosmos DB, Event Hub, Application Insights, Storage accounts, Container registries, Application gateway, SQL server, MySQL server, Active Directory B2C), Güdel's connectivity was ensured.

Each Smart Product has a globally unique identity and its own Smart Product Dashboard. With the appropriate authorizations and depending on the product type, customers have access to up-to-date information about the product.
The Condition Monitoring Manager for traversing axes and gantries is used to increase overall system effectiveness and, in addition to condition monitoring, includes a log book, the visualization of specific measurement curves and alarm notifications and serves as a preliminary stage of a predictive maintenance solution.
